For lovers of culture and sport

Nestled in the heart of Provence, Vaison-la-Romaine is a historical and natural gem that seduces visitors with its timeless charm and wide range of activities. Whether you’re a lover of culture, nature or sport, this emblematic town has everything to make your stay unforgettable.

With its ancient remains among the best preserved in France, Vaison-la-Romaine is an invitation to travel through the centuries. Discover the Roman ruins and ancient theater of Puymin and La Villasse, as well as the Théo Desplans archaeological museum.

Stroll through the medieval Haute-Ville, perched on a hill, and climb up to the remains of the Château Comtal, not forgetting a stop in front of the Eglise-Cathédrale Saint-Marie-de-l’Assomption. From the top you’ll have a magnificent view of the Ouvèze valley and Mont Ventoux. Don’t miss the Roman bridge, symbol of the town, which has spanned the Ouvèze for almost 2000 years and bears the unfortunate memory of the terrible floods of 1992.

From spring to early autumn, come and discover the flavors of the land. Visit the Provençal market on Tuesday morning, renowned as one of the most beautiful in the region. You can sample local produce: olives, truffles, honeys, apricots, asparagus and, of course, the famous Rhône Valley wines. And don’t hesitate to discover our different wineries around Vaison-la-Romaine.

Nature activities

For outdoor enthusiasts, Vaison-la-Romaine and the surrounding area offer a multitude of hiking, trail and cycling trails . Explore the Dentelles de Montmirail or the foothills of Mont Ventoux, ideal for a sporting day out in breathtaking scenery. Lovers of relaxation will prefer a peaceful stroll in our surrounding hilltop villages like Crestet or Séguret or in the surrounding lavender fields, in full summer bloom.

Festivals and Events

The town comes alive throughout the year with various events, such as the Choralies, a choral festival organized every 3 years by the association “A Cœur Joie”, owner of the “Moulin de César”. Let’s not forget Vaison Danses in July as well as Vaison Festival which welcomes a large number of known and recognized artists each year.
